Air Temperature Sensor Test

  1. Disconnect vacuum hose from air temperature sensor. Air temperature sensor is located in air cleaner. Connect a hand operated vacuum pump to vacuum source side of air temperature sensor and a vacuum gauge to vacuum motor side of sensor.
  2. With sensor temperature less than 50°F (10°C), apply 14 in. Hg vacuum to sensor. Vacuum should be maintained. Warm sensor to 70°F (21°C). Vacuum should not be maintained by sensor. Replace sensor if defective.
