Starter Relay Test
- Do not disconnect starter relay connector. Backprobe starter relay connector. Connect a voltmeter between starter relay terminal No. 2 (White wire) and ground. See Fig 1
and Fig 2
. Turn ignition switch to the START position. Voltmeter should read battery voltage. If voltmeter does not read battery voltage, repair open circuit from ignition switch.
- Connect voltmeter between terminals No. 1 (Yellow wire) and No. 5 (Yellow wire). Turn ignition switch to the START position. Voltmeter should read zero volts. If voltmeter does not read zero volts, repair ground circuit.
- Connect voltmeter between terminal No. 4 (Brown wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to START position. Voltmeter should read battery voltage. If voltmeter does not read battery voltage, replace starter relay.
