Manifold Air Temperature (Mat) Sensor Test

  1. Disconnect wire harness connector from MAT sensor. The MAT sensor is installed in throttle body adapter, at rear of intake manifold. Using a DVOM, sensor resistance should be less than 1000 ohms with engine at operating temperature.
  2. Check resistance between ECU terminal "C8" and sensor connector, and ECU terminal "D3" and sensor connector. See Figure . Repair wiring harness if resistance is more than one ohm. Refer to MANIFOLD AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. Replace sensor if not within specification.
