High Altitude Vehicles

  1. Disconnect vacuum advance hose at outer diaphragm of distributor (White stripe on hose). Check basic ignition timing. If basic ignition timing is not within specification, loosen distributor and rotate to adjust timing as necessary. See IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Reconnect vacuum hose at distributor. If vehicle is at an elevation of more than 3900 ft. (1190 m) when ignition timing is checked, high altitude compensation system should apply vacuum to outer diaphragm of distributor, causing ignition timing to advance to 12 degrees at idle. This is actual ignition timing.
