BASIC IDLE SPEED (2.0L & 2.0L Turbo)
- Ensure engine is at operating temperature and all accessories are off. Place transmission in Neutral and front wheels in a straight-ahead position. Turn engine off.
- Disconnect female connector from ignition timing connector (if equipped). Using a jumper wire, ground ignition timing adjustment connector (Yellow/Red wire).
- Using a jumper wire, ground terminal No. 10 of self-diagnosis connector. Self-diagnosis connector is located above left kick panel. Start engine. If idle speed is within specification, turn engine off. Remove all test equipment.
- If idle speed is not within specification, adjust using Speed Adjustment Screw. See Fig 1 . If idle speed cannot be adjusted properly, check for tampering of fixed Speed Adjustment Screw (SAS) or a faulty Fast Idle Air Valve (FIAV).
