BASIC IDLE SPEED (2.0L & 2.0L Turbo)

  1. Ensure engine is at operating temperature and all accessories are off. Place transmission in Neutral and front wheels in a straight-ahead position. Turn engine off.
  2. Disconnect female connector from ignition timing connector (if equipped). Using a jumper wire, ground ignition timing adjustment connector (Yellow/Red wire).
  3. Using a jumper wire, ground terminal No. 10 of self-diagnosis connector. Self-diagnosis connector is located above left kick panel. Start engine. If idle speed is within specification, turn engine off. Remove all test equipment.
  4. If idle speed is not within specification, adjust using Speed Adjustment Screw. See Fig 1 . If idle speed cannot be adjusted properly, check for tampering of fixed Speed Adjustment Screw (SAS) or a faulty Fast Idle Air Valve (FIAV).
