Fuel Rails: Removal

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE  in this article. Disconnect battery.
  2. On 1.8L, disconnect breather hose.
  3. On 2.0L, remove center cover from top of injectors.
  4. On all models, disconnect PCV hose. Disconnect accelerator cable clamps and vacuum hoses.
  5. Wrap fuel lines with shop towel and disconnect fuel lines at fuel rail. Disconnect injector harness connector. Disconnect vacuum hose at fuel pressure regulator.
  6. Remove fuel rail retaining bolts. Remove fuel rail and injectors from intake manifold by lifting assembly upward so injectors come straight out of intake ports.
