Ignition Timing 2.0L & 2.0L Turbo

  1. Ensure vehicle is at operating temperature, all accessories are off and transmission is in Park or Neutral. Front wheels must be in a straight-ahead position. Connect tachometer to engine RPM detection connector. See Fig 1 . Ensure curb idle speed is set to specification. Turn engine off.
  2. Using a jumper wire, ground ignition timing adjustment connector Yellow/Red wire (Yellow/Black wire on 2.0L Turbo). See Figure and Figure . Start engine. Check base ignition timing. Loosen crank angle sensor hold-down bolt and adjust as necessary. Disconnect ground wire on ignition timing adjustment connector. Check actual ignition timing. Turn engine off. Remove all test equipment.
