Motor Relay

  1. Check if hydraulic unit motor makes noise (still operating) when vehicle speed is more than 4 MPH. If motor is not operating, go to next step. If motor is still operating, repair or replace wiring harness between hydraulic unit and ECU.
  2. Remove and test motor relay. See HYDRAULIC UNIT RELAYS  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If relay is okay, go to next step. If relay is faulty, replace relay.
  3. Check pump motor ground connection. If ground is okay, go to next step. If ground is bad, repair ground connection. Ensure ground wire has a clean, tight connection.
  4. Install motor relay. Disconnect hydraulic unit 10-pin connector. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between motor relay connector terminal No. 51 (Red/Black wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair or replace broken wire in hydraulic unit wiring harness.
  5. Connect hydraulic unit wiring harness. Disconnect ECU wiring harness connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between ECU connector terminals No. 2 (Blue/Yellow wire) and 26 (Green/Black wire). See Figure . Resistance should be 30-60 ohms. If resistance is not within specification, repair or replace wiring harness between hydraulic unit and ECU. If resistance is within specification, motor relay circuit is okay. Replace faulty ECU.
