Wheel Speed Sensor: Installation

  1. Install speed sensor bracket if removed. Sensor mounting brackets are not interchangeable from side to side. Each bracket is stamped with "FR" indicating front bracket and "L" or "R" indicating left or right.
  2. Temporarily install the wheel speed sensor. Route speed sensor wiring harness in its original location and ensure no twist exists in harness. Adjust wheel speed sensor-to-rotor gap. Refer to WHEEL SPEED SENSOR ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.


  1. Install sensor bracket if removed. Sensor mounting brackets are not interchangeable from side to side. Each bracket is stamped with "L" or "R" to indicate left or right.
  2. Temporarily install speed sensor. Route speed sensor wiring harness in its original location and ensure no twist exists in harness. Ensure sensor harness does not contact trailing arm.
  3. On AWD models, wheel speed sensor-to-rotor gap is not adjustable. On FWD models, adjust wheel speed sensor-to-rotor gap. Refer to WHEEL SPEED SENSOR ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS. On all models, reverse removal procedure to complete installation.
