Test 11A - Mic Seat Belt Warning Light

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Turn ignition on. Ensure left front (driver's) seat belt is NOT fastened. Using DRB-II, read seat belt switch status. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to TEST 12A.
  2. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, fasten left front seat belt and observe seat belt switch status. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT OPEN, go to TEST 12A.
  3. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT OPEN, disconnect left front seat belt switch connector. Connector is located on left side door pillar, just behind seat. Using DRB-II, read seat belt switch status. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect Body Controller Module (BCM) Gray connector. Module is located behind right kick panel. With DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 5, seat belt switch sense circuit (Light Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
