Test 1A - Identifying Vehicle Equipment & System Problems

Connect DRB-II to Data Link Connector (DLC). Connector is located under instrument cluster, next to center console. If DRB-II is not operational, refer to VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS TESTS .
If DRB-II is operational, turn ignition on. Using DRB-II, select body system. If DRB-II does not display BUS OPERATIONAL, refer to VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS TESTS. If BUS OPERATIONAL is displayed, go to next step.
Using DRB-II, select body controller. If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 53A . If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
Using DRB-II, select Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system. If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 18A. If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
Using DRB-II, select Overhead Travel Information System (OTIS) module. If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 15A . If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE, refer to TEST 1A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table for specific diagnosis.

NOTE: Diagnostic TEST 16A through TEST 25G are related to manual A/C-heater or Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system. Test procedures for manual or automatic A/C-heater systems may be found in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING.

⁽¹⁾	When diagnosing a vehicle w/many apparent failures, start at top of table and perform indicated tests. Failures may occur separately or in various combinations. After repairs, ensure failure or group of failures have been corrected.

⁽²⁾	Diagnostic TEST 16A and TEST 16B are related to manual A/C-heater system. Diagnostic TEST 17A through TEST 25G are related to Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system. Test procedures for manual or automatic A/C-heater systems may be found in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING.
