Test 26B - Wiper Switch Mode Sense Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Stop wiper motor actuation test. Using DRB-II, read INTRMT WIPE (intermittent wiper) sensor status. Observe DRB-II while gradually moving wiper switch from off to high position. If DRB-II displays INTRMT WIPE: 0V (zero volts) or more, replace body controller module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  2. If DRB-II did not display INTRMT WIPE: 0V (zero volts) or more, disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on multifunction switch connector fused ignition feed circuit (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open circuit in Dark Blue wire between switch and fuse No. 10. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  3. If voltage is more than 10 volts, disconnect Body Controller Module (BCM) Bone connector. Module is located behind right kick panel. With DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16, wiper switch mode sense circuit (Dark Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, use an external ohmmeter to check wiper switch mode sense circuit (Dark Green/Red wire) resistance between multifunction switch connector and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Dark Green/Red wire between switch and BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  5. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect multifunction switch connector and turn wiper switch to low or high position. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe multifunction switch connector wiper switch mode sense circuit (Dark Green/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace multifunction switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
