Test 28A - Inoperative Wiper Motor Low Speed
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Disconnect windshield wiper motor connector. Connector is located on engine compartment firewall, just right of power brake booster. Connect jumper wire between fused battery circuit (Red/Dark Blue wire) on on/off relay connector and low speed output circuit (Brown/White wire) on high/low relay connector and go to next step.
- With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on wiper motor connector low speed output circuit (Brown/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open circuit in Brown/White wire between high/low speed relay and wiper motor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, use DRB-II in ohmmeter mode to check resistance on wiper motor connector ground circuit (Black wire). If resistance is more than ohms, repair open circuit in Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace windshield wiper motor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
