Test 33C - Open Park Switch Sense Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Place wiper switch in low speed position. Using DRB-II, read wiper park switch status. Observe DRB-II closely, up to 30 seconds, during the following steps. DRB-II reading will change momentarily between closed and open, if at all, during sweep.
  2. If DRB-II reading toggles at least once WIPER PK SW: CLOSED/OPEN, replace body controller module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II reading does not toggle at least once, go to next step.
NOTE: The BCM must be connected while performing step 3). Failure to do so may lead to incorrect circuit/system diagnosis.
  3. Access Body Controller Module (BCM). Module is located behind right kick panel. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and park switch sense circuit (Tan/Red wire) on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 2. Using DRB-II, read wiper park switch status. If DRB-II does not display WIPER PK SW: CLOSED, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If DRB-II displays WIPER PK SW: CLOSED, disconnect jumper wire used in step 3). Disconnect windshield wiper motor connector. Connector is located on engine compartment firewall, just right of power brake booster. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and wiper motor connector park switch sense circuit (Tan/Red wire). If DRB-II does not display WIPER PK SW: CLOSED, repair open circuit in Tan/Red wire between wiper motor and BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II displays WIPER PK SW: CLOSED, replace windshield wiper motor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
