Test 34B - Washer Pump Controls

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Ensure washer fluid lines and nozzles are not damaged or restricted. Repair as necessary. Disconnect windshield washer pump connector. With DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on windshield washer pump connector ground circuit (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, press and hold windshield washer button on end of wiper/washer stalk. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on windshield washer pump connector washer pump control circuit (Brown wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open circuit in Brown wire between wiper/washer switch and windshield washer pump connector. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace windshield washer pump. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
