Test 36D - Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Module Problem
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- If problem is with trunk release or warning light, go to TEST 36E. If problem is not with trunk release or warning light, ensure DRB-II door lock test is still active. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module Black connector. Module is located on top, right side of dashboard.NOTE: RKE module may be accessed by carefully prying each end of dashboard top cover, then lifting rear edge of top cover and sliding cover forward to disengage front clips.
- With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on RKE Black connector door unlock relay feed circuit (Pink/Violet wire). If voltage fluctuates from zero volts to less than 10 volts, repair open circuit in Pink/Violet wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage fluctuates from zero volts to more than 10 volts, use DRB-II to stop door lock test. With DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on RKE Black connector ground circuit (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace RKE module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
