Test 36E - Trunk Release Problem

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. If trunk ajar light is the problem, repair problem as necessary. If trunk ajar light is not the problem, access Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module Black connector. Module is located on top, right side of dashboard.
    NOTE: RKE module may be accessed by carefully prying each end of dashboard top cover, then lifting rear edge of top cover and sliding cover forward to disengage front clips.
  2. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe RKE Black connector trunk release feed circuit (Black/White wire). Depress trunk release button on transmitter. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace RKE module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  3. If voltage is more than 10 volts, access trunk release solenoid, located in trunk lid. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on trunk release solenoid connector trunk release feed circuit (Black/White wire). Depress trunk release button on transmitter. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace trunk release solenoid. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open circuit in Black/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
