NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Close right rear door. Turn courtesy light switch (located next to headlight switch) to on position. If courtesy lights operate by using dash courtesy light switch, system is operational with no trouble found. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If courtesy lights do not operate, go to next step.
  2. With DRB-II, read courtesy light switch status. If DRB-II displays COURTESY SW: CLOSED, replace Body Controller Module (BCM). Module is located behind right kick panel. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display COURTESY SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect headlight switch 8-pin connector from behind switch. Connect a jumper wire between courtesy light switch sense circuit (Yellow/Red wire) and ground circuit (Black wire) on headlight switch 8-pin connector terminals. Using DRB-II, read courtesy light switch status. If DRB-II displays COURTESY SW: CLOSED, replace dash-mounted courtesy light switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If DRB-II does not display COURTESY SW: CLOSED, disconnect jumper wire used in step 3). Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and headlight switch 8-pin connector courtesy light switch sense circuit (Yellow/Red wire). Using DRB-II, read courtesy light switch status. If DRB-II displays COURTESY SW: CLOSED, repair open circuit in Black (ground) wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
NOTE: The BCM must be connected while performing step 5). Failure to do so may lead to incorrect circuit/system diagnosis.
  5. If DRB-II does not display COURTESY SW: CLOSED, disconnect jumper wire used in step 4). Access BCM connectors. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and BCM Gray connector terminal No. 11, courtesy light switch sense circuit (Yellow/Red wire). Using DRB-II, read courtesy light switch status. If DRB-II displays COURTESY SW: CLOSED, repair open circuit in Yellow/Red wire between dash-mounted courtesy light switch and BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display COURTESY SW: CLOSED, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
