Test 52A - Chime Problem

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Roll driver's door window down and close all doors. Turn ignition on. Using DRB-II, actuate chime test. If chime does not sound, replace Body Controller Module (BCM). Module is located behind right kick panel. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  2. If chime does sound, use DRB-II to stop chime test. Turn ignition off and open left front door. If chime does not sound, go to TEST 39A  . If chime does sound, close left front door. Turn ignition on. If chime does not sound, go to TEST 11A.
  3. If chime does sound, turn ignition off and remove key. Turn headlights on and open left front door. If chime does sound, retest system. If chime does not sound, turn headlights and ignition off. Disconnect BCM Bone connector. Turn headlights and ignition on.
  4. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 4, dimming level sense circuit (Orange/Dark Blue wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  5. If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 9 from fuse/junction block. Fuse/junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. If fuse is okay, go to TEST 52B.
  6. If fuse is blown, turn ignition off. With DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on panel lights feed circuit (Orange wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 9. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
