Test 6A - Mic Temperature Gauge Faulty

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Ensure engine cooling system is operating properly. Repair as necessary. If engine cooling system is okay, go to next step.
  2. Stop DRB-II actuator tests (if necessary). Using DRB-II, select engine controller. Using DRB-II, read engine controller faults. If a coolant sensor fault is indicated, refer to appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
  3. If a coolant sensor fault is not indicated, disconnect Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) Black connector. With DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on MIC Black connector sensor ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Black/Light Green wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, remove temperature gauge. Inspect instrument cluster printed circuit board and its connectors. If printed circuit board is okay, replace defective temperature gauge. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If printed circuit board is not okay, replace defective circuit board. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
