Test 2A - Blank DRB-II Message Screen
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Disconnect DRB-II. Using an external voltmeter, check voltage between data link connector fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) and ground. Connector is located underneath dash, left of steering column. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 3).
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 13. If fuse is open, repair short to ground in fused battery feed circuit and replace fuse. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If fuse is okay, repair open in fused battery feed circuit. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between data link connector ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire) and ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire). Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, try a different DRB-II adapter cable. If DRB-II screen is no longer blank, replace defective DRB-II adapter cable. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If DRB-II screen is still blank, try a different DRB-II cartridge. If DRB-II screen is no longer blank, replace defective DRB-II cartridge. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II screen is still blank, replace defective DRB-II. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
