Test 12A - Shorted Mic Seat Belt Warning Light

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Disconnect left front seat belt switch connector. Connector is located on left side door pillar, just behind seat. Connect jumper wire between seat belt switch sense circuit (Light Green/Red wire) and ground circuit (Black wire) on seat belt switch connector terminals. Using DRB-II, read seat belt switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  2. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, connect jumper wire between chassis ground and seat belt switch connector (Light Green/Red wire) terminal. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open circuit in Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
    NOTE: The BCM must be connected while performing step 3). Failure to do so may lead to incorrect circuit/system diagnosis.
  3. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, access Body Controller Module (BCM). Module is located behind right kick panel. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and BCM Gray connector terminal No. 5, seat belt switch sense circuit (Light Green/Red wire). If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open circuit in Light Green/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
