Test 4A - Mic Warning Lights

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at the end of this article.
  1. Check if Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) oil warning light is always on with engine running. If oil warning light is on, go to TEST 10A.
  2. If oil warning light is off, start engine and observe oil warning light. If oil light does NOT comes on (engine off) and then go off (engine running), go to TEST 10A.
  3. If oil light comes on and then goes off, use DRB-II to actuate all warning lights. If lights did not pass actuation test, stop actuation test and go to TEST 6B  .
  4. If lights passed actuation test, check if coolant temperature warning light is operating properly. If coolant temperature warning light is not operating properly, stop actuation test and go to TEST 6A.
  5. If coolant temperature warning light is operating properly, check if parking brake warning light is operating properly. If parking brake warning light is not operating properly, stop actuation test and go to TEST 13A.
  6. If parking brake warning light is operating properly, check if seat belt warning light is operating properly. If seat belt warning light is not operating properly, stop actuation test and go to TEST 11A.
  7. If seat belt warning light is operating properly, check if CHECK ENGINE warning light is operating properly. If CHECK ENGINE warning light is not operating properly, stop actuation test and refer to appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
  8. If CHECK ENGINE warning light is operating properly, check if charging system (battery symbol) warning light is operating properly. If charging system warning light is not operating properly, stop actuation test and refer to appropriate ALTERNATOR/REGULATOR article in the ELECTRICAL Section.
  9. If charging system warning light is operating properly, check if AIR BAG warning light is operating properly. If AIR BAG warning light is not operating properly, stop actuation test and refer to appropriate AIR BAGS article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section.
  10. If AIR BAG warning light is operating properly, check if CRUISE control warning light is operating properly. If CRUISE control warning light is not operating properly, stop actuation test and refer to appropriate CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section.
  11. If CRUISE control warning light is operating properly, check if low fuel (gasoline station pump symbol) warning light is operating properly. If low fuel warning light is not operating properly, stop actuation test and go to TEST 8A.
  12. If low fuel warning light is operating properly, check if PRND3L (transmission position) indicator light is operating properly. If PRND3L light is not operating properly, stop actuation test and refer to appropriate transmission article in AUTOMATIC TRANS SERVICE Section. If PRND3L light is operating properly, all MIC warning lights are operating properly.
