Power Transistor (All Others)

  1. Disconnect power transistor connector. Using a 1.5-volt dry cell battery, connect the negative end of the 1.5-volt battery to terminal No. 5 of the power transistor and the positive end to terminal No. 6. See Fig 1 .
  2. Using an analog ohmmeter, attach the ground lead of the ohmmeter to terminal No. 12 and the positive lead of the ohmmeter to terminal No. 5 of the power transistor. See Fig 1 . With the 1.5-volt battery still connected between terminals No. 5 and 6, Continuity should exist. With positive end of 1.5-volt battery disconnected, there should be no continuity. Replace power transistor if it fails test.
