April 5, 2026: LEMON Manuals is launched! Read the announcement.

Oxygen (O2) Sensor (2.0L)

  1. O2 sensor is located at outlet of exhaust manifold or turbocharger. Disconnect O2 sensor connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between O2 sensor terminals No. 3 and 4. See Fig 1 . Resistance should be about 12 ohms with an O2 sensor temperature of 68°F (20°C). Resistance should be about 30 ohms with an O2 sensor temperature of 752°F (400°C). If resistance is not as specified, replace O2 sensor.
CAUTION: Damage to O2 sensor may result if battery voltage is applied to wrong O2 sensor terminals.
  2. Warm engine until coolant temperature reaches 176°F (80°C). Apply battery voltage across O2 sensor terminals No. 3 and 4. See Fig 1 . Connect a digital voltmeter to O2 sensor terminals No. 1 and 2.
  3. With engine speed greater than 1300 RPM, measure O2 sensor output voltage. Output voltage should be .6-1.0 volt. If output voltage is not within specification, replace O2 sensor.
