Test 112A - Testing Fused Ignition Switch Output To Body Control Module (BCM)

NOTE: Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Remove and inspect fuse No. 14 from junction block. See Figure . Junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. If fuse is open, go to step 4). If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at fused ignition switch output terminal (Dark Blue/White wire) of fuse No. 14 terminal. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 13 (Dark Blue/White wire) on BCM Bone connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/White wire and replace fuse No. 14. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM and replace fuse No. 14.
  4. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at ignition switch output terminal (Dark Blue wire) on fuse No. 14 terminal. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Dark Blue wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, reinstall fuse No. 14. Go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 13 (Dark Blue/White wire) on BCM Bone connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Dark Blue/White wire and replace fuse No. 14. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM.
