Main Relay/Power Circuit Failure
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAM.
- Using scan tool, erase trouble codes. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for trouble codes. If MAIN RELAY/POWER CIRCUIT FAILURE, VALVE POWER FEED CIRCUIT or SYSTEM UNDERVOLTAGE message is set, go to next step. If no trouble codes are set, inspect wiring and connectors. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If wiring and connectors are okay, system is operating properly at this time. Perform TEST VER-1A.
- Disconnect ABS relay. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on ABS relay terminal "A" (White wire). See Figure . If reading is less than 10 volts, repair open in White wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, check voltage on ABS relay terminal "C" (Orange/Black wire). If reading is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 14B. If reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step. 4) Using scan tool, check voltage on ABS relay terminal "D" (Red/Dark Green wire). If reading is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red/Dark Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB 37-pin connector. See Figure . Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on CAB connector terminal No. 32 (Orange/Black wire). See Figure . If reading is less than 10 volts, repair open in Orange/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of CAB connector terminals No. 13 (Brown/White wire), No. 25 (Brown/White wire), and No. 37 (Brown/White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate Brown/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Connect a jumper wire between chassis ground and CAB connector terminal No. 32 (Orange/Black wire). ABS relay should actuate. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on CAB connector terminals No. 13 (Brown/White wire), No. 25 (Brown/White wire), and No. 37 (Brown/White wire). If reading is less than 10 volts, replace ABS relay. Perform TEST VER-1A. If reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Ensure CAB is securely mounted to HCU. If CAB is securely mounted, replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A. If CAB is not securely mounted, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A.
