Correcting Inoperative Low-Speed Traction Control System

(LTCS)

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAM.
  1. Using scan tool, read traction control switch state. Depress and hold traction control selection switch on instrument panel. If scan tool displays TRAC CONT SW status change, go to TEST 29B. If scan tool does not display a status change, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove traction control system switch from instrument panel. Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of Black wire at traction control system switch connector terminal No. 1. See Figure . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Monitor scan tool traction control system switch state. Connect a jumper wire between chassis ground and Red/Yellow wire at traction control system switch connector terminal No. 2. If scan tool displays TRAC CONT SW PRESSED, replace traction control system switch. Perform TEST VER-1A. If scan tool does not display TRAC CONT SW PRESSED, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB 37-pin connector. Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Connect a jumper wire between chassis ground and Red/Yellow wire at traction control system switch connector terminal No. 2. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of Red/Yellow wire at CAB connector terminal No. 9. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Remove CAB from HCU. See Figure . Inspect 14-pin connector. If connector is faulty, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If terminals are backed-out, replace HCU. Perform TEST VER-1A. If connector is okay, replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A.
