Correcting Scan Tool No Response Condition

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAM.
NOTE: Vehicle speed must be less than 10 MPH to enter TEVES ABS DIAGNOSTICS using scan tool.
  1. If vehicle speed is more than 10 MPH, slow speed to less than 10 MPH and access TEVES ABS DIAGNOSTICS. If vehicle speed is less than 10 MPH, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Inspect fuse No. 6. See Figure . If fuse is open, repair short to ground in fused ignition feed wire. Replace fuse No. 6. Perform TEST VER-1A. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on ignition feed side (lower terminal) of fuse No. 6. If reading is less than 10 volts, repair open in ignition feed wire. If reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB 37-pin connector. Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on CAB connector terminal No. 33 (White wire). If reading is less than 10 volts, repair open in White wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool, check voltage on CAB connector terminal No. 36 (Pink wire). If voltage is present, repair short to battery in Pink wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect ABS relay connector. Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on CAB connector terminal No. 32 (Orange/Black wire). If voltage is present, repair short to battery in Orange/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Using external ohmmeter, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between CAB connector terminal No. 5 and data link connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  8. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of White/Black wire between CAB connector terminal No. 27 and data link connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  9. Reconnect CAB connector. Using scan tool, try to access TEVES ABS DIAGNOSTICS again. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A. If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE, system is operating properly at this time. Perform TEST VER-1A.
