Hydraulic Failure
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAM.
- Using scan tool, monitor pedal travel sensor input. Depress brake pedal slowly to floor. If pedal travel input on scan tool display does not change smoothly from 1-6 steps, go to TEST 15A. If pedal travel input changes smoothly from 1-6 steps, go to next step.
- Inspect brake system for broken or damaged brakelines. If brakelines are broken or damaged, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If brakelines are okay, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read trouble codes. If PUMP MOTOR CIRCUIT NOT WORKING PROPERLY message is set, go to TEST 17A. If PUMP MOTOR CIRCUIT NOT WORKING PROPERLY message is not set, go to next step.
- Depress and hold down brake pedal. Using scan tool, actuate HYDRAULIC VALVE TEST. Observe test results. Brake pedal should drop slightly 4 times followed by one push-back. Release brake pedal. If brake pedal dropped to floor during any part of test, go to TEST 5B. If brake pedal did not drop to floor, go to next step.
- If brake pedal did not drop slightly 4 times during test, go to TEST 5B. If brake pedal dropped slightly 4 times during test but did not push back at end of test, replace pump/motor assembly. Perform TEST VER-1A. If brake pedal dropped slightly 4 times during test and pushed back at end of test, replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A. If CAB has been replaced for this fault before, replace HCU.
