Test 55A - Instrument Cluster Gauge Problem
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see appropriate article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE:
- WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.3L
- WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.5L
- Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Using scan tool, actuate each instrument cluster gauge from low to high. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE FROM AIR BAG MODULE, see the AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. If any gauges do not pass actuation test, go to TEST 66A . If gauges pass actuation test, go to next step.
- Stop actuation test. Check temperature operation. If temperature gauge is not operating properly, go to TEST 65A . If temperature gauge is operating properly, go to next step.
- Check fuel gauge operation. If fuel gauge is not operating properly, go to TEST 67 . If fuel gauge is operating properly, go to next step.
- Check speedometer operation. If speedometer is not operating properly, go to TEST 69A . If speedometer is operating properly, go to next step.
- Start engine. Using scan tool, read engine speed (RPM). If scan tool displays more than 400 RPM, replace instrument cluster. If scan tool displays less than 400 RPM, go to next step.
- If scan tool displays RPM NR, go to TEST 114A . If scan tool does not display RPM NR, replace body control module.
