DTC 52 - Valve Relay Circuit

NOTE: If after all testing procedures have been completed system is not functioning properly, substitute ECU with known-good unit and retest.
  1. Remove and test valve relay. See HYDRAULIC UNIT RELAYS  under COMPONENT TESTING. Replace relay if faulty. If relay is okay, reinstall valve relay and go to next step.
  2. Remove valve relay. Using a DVOM, check voltage between ground and valve relay connector terminal No. 6. See Fig 1. If battery voltage is not present, repair circuit between fusible link No. 9 and valve relay. See WIRING DIAGRAM . If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect ECU connectors. Check voltage between ECU connector terminal No. 8 and ground. If battery voltage is not present, check and repair connectors and related wiring harness between fuse No. 15 and ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAM . If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect Hydraulic Unit (HU) 8-pin connector. Ensure ignition is on. Check voltage between ground and 8-pin connector terminals No. 3, 4, 7 and 8. See Figure. If battery voltage is not present at any terminal, repair wiring harness between valve relay and HU. See WIRING DIAGRAM . If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
  5. Check and repair HU connector. If connector is okay, repair wiring harness between ECU and HU. See WIRING DIAGRAM .
