The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent wheel lock-up during heavy braking. This allows operator to maintain steering control while stopping vehicle in shortest distance possible. Major components consist of the following: Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), 4 Wheel Speed Sensors (WSS) and WSS rotors, ABS Electronic Control Unit (ABS-ECU) and ABS warning light. See Fig 1 . ABS has a self-diagnostic system which communicates over the Data Link Connector (DLC) to indicate system malfunctions and for use in system trouble shooting.
