Ignition Switch Test

WARNING: All models are equipped with Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all WARNINGS and SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. Failure to do so could result in accidental deployment of air bags and possible personal injury.
  1. Disable air bag. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. Remove instrument cluster undercover. Remove steering column covers to locate ignition switch 6-pin connector. Disconnect ignition switch 6-pin connector.
  2. Put ignition switch in ON position. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between switch terminals No. 1 (White wire), No. 2 (Black/White wire), No. 4 (Blue/Black) and No. 6 (Blue wire). If continuity is not present, replace ignition switch.
