Power Window Motor Test

  1. Remove door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL & WATERSHIELD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect window motor connector. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage to one window motor terminal and battery negative to other terminal. Motor should operate, unless window is already at maximum travel. Reverse jumper wires. Window should move in opposite direction.
  2. If window does not move in either direction, check window/regulator for freedom of movement. Remove screws holding glass lift plate to regulator. Slide window up and down by hand to ensure it moves freely in glass channels. If window slides freely, check regulator assembly. Repair window/regulator as necessary. If window slides freely and window/regulator is okay, replace window motor. If motor operates in one direction only, replace motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR  .
