Test Mode 5

  1. Test mode 5 may be referred to as OBD-II test mode. In this test mode, scan tool will display Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTCs) stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM) if ECM detects a malfunction for misfire, fuel system and comprehensive during a single drive cycle. The intended use of this data is to assist the technician after performing a vehicle repair and clearing DTCs, by reporting test result after a single drive cycle.
  2. Test results reported by this mode do not necessarily indicate a faulty component or system. If test results indicate a failure after consecutive driving, then the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will be turned on and a DTC will be stored in the ECM.
