Test NTC-19A: Checking Intake Air Temperature Sensor
NOTE:
Perform TEST TC-118A , TEST NTC-1A or TEST NTC-4A
before proceeding. When performing this test, DO NOT allow more than 5 minutes between measuring temperature of intake air temperature sensor with scan tool and measuring the air temperature on inside of intake manifold with temperature probe.
- Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, read and record Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor reading. Turn ignition off. Remove Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. Using a temperature probe, measure air temperature inside MAP sensor opening in intake manifold.
- If IAT sensor reading is within 10°F (-12°C) of air temperature probe reading, reconnect MAP sensor. IAT sensor is functioning properly. Test is complete. If IAT sensor reading is not within 10°F (-12°C) of air temperature probe reading, replace IAT sensor. Perform TEST VER-2A .
