Test TC-106B: Multiple Cylinder Misfire: Notes
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Inspect all related wiring and connectors and repair as necessary. If no problems were found with wiring and connectors, go to next step. If related wiring and connectors were repaired, perform TEST VER-2A .
- Perform the following tests in order listed. If a test passes, continue to next test until problem is found. If vehicle is a Neon with A/C, perform the following 2 tests before performing engine mechanical checks. Check Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. See TEST NTC-8A . Check Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. See TEST NTC-19A .
- Check secondary ignition and timing. See TEST NTC-2A .
- Check fuel delivery. See TEST NTC-5A .
- Check engine vacuum. See TEST NTC-4A .
- Check PCM power and grounds. See TEST NTC-3A .
- Check engine mechanical. See TEST NTC-13A .
- Check Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. See TEST NTC-8A .
- Check Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. See TEST NTC-19A .
After performing previous tests, erase DTCs. Drive vehicle while monitoring scan tool misfire monitor display. During test drive, drive vehicle with A/C on and A/C off. Drive vehicle with A/C off at highway speeds doing light throttle decels. Monitor fault detection. If no fault is found, drive vehicle with A/C on at highway speeds doing light throttle decels. Monitor fault detection. If no fault is found, perform engine mechanical test. See TEST NTC-13A . If a fault is found, perform A/C pressure test. See A/C Pressure Test .
