Thermostatic Air Gleaners: Operation

The air cleaner draws cold air directly from the engine compartment and heated air through a hose connected to a shroud on the exhaust manifold. A blend door in the air cleaner snorkel is used to mix the heated and cold air. The door is controlled by a wax-type thermostat. The thermostat is calibrated to maintain a constant air temperature of 73-82°F (23-28°C).
