Electronic Control Assembly

The Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) is located in passenger compartment, under center console. It contains circuits designed to continuously sample input signals from the engine sensors. Optimum air/fuel ratio and ignition timing is calculated to meet conditions as indicated by these signals. The ECA then sends out appropriate signals to adjust air/fuel ratio and spark timing to optimum levels.

The ECA contains a memory and specific programming information as required to determine ideal operating conditions. Different calibration information is used in different vehicle applications, such as California or Federal models.
