Engine Sensors: Notes

In order for the ECA to properly perform its function, it must be kept constantly informed of engine operating conditions. It is the function of the engine sensors to supply the ECA, via electrical signal, with specific information as required to determine engine operating conditions. The ECA can then send out electrical signals of its own to control fuel flow (determining air/fuel ratio) and ignition timing. Individual sensor operation is as follows:
