Electronic Control Assembly
The Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) is a microprocessor designed to continuously sample input signals from the engine sensors. The ECA uses the data to constantly adjust air/fuel ratio and ignition timing to meet various engine operating conditions.
The ECA contains a memory and specific programming information as required to determine ideal operating conditions. Different calibration information is used in different vehicle applications, such as California or Federal models.
It is located in front of the center console in the Escort, EXP and Lynx models. On all other models, it is located inside the right side cowl.
