Upper Intake Manifold & Throttle Body: Installation
Clean gasket surfaces, but do not allow gasket material to fall into intake manifold. To install, reverse removal procedure.
- Clean and inspect mounting faces of lower and upper intake manifolds. Position new gasket on lower intake mounting face. Use of alignment studs may be helpful.
- Install upper intake manifold and throttle body assembly to lower manifold making sure gasket remains in place. Align EGR tube in valve. Install 6 upper intake manifold retaining bolts and tighten.
- Engage A/C line retainer cup and tighten bolt. Tighten EGR tube, flare fitting, and lower retainer nut at exhaust manifold. Install canister purge line to fitting.
- Connect PCV vacuum hose to bottom of upper manifold and PCV closure hose to throttle body. Connect vacuum lines to vacuum tree, EGR valve, and fuel pressure regulator.
- Connect throttle cable to throttle body and install snow/ice shield. Connect electrical connector at air by-pass valve, throttle position sensor, EGR sensor, and ACT sensor.
Clean and oil manifold bolt threads. Install new manifold gasket. If injectors were removed, lubricate new injector "O" rings with a light oil. DO NOT use silicone grease. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. See Fig 1 .
To install, reverse removal procedure. Use new gasket between upper and lower intake manifolds.
