2.2L Systems/Tests W/Codes: Description

The heart of the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) system is a microprocessor called the Electronic Control Assembly (ECA). The ECA monitors engine operating conditions by receiving inputs from a series of engine switches and sensors. The ECA output actuators control fuel mixture and idle speed. On models equipped with turbochargers, the ECA also controls the ignition output signal. The ECA is mounted to the floor panel, behind the front of the center console.
