Engine Controls - Tests W/Codes: Introduction: Overview: Notes
All EEC-IV troubleshooting begins with the Quick Test procedure. The Quick Test is designed to identify system failure areas based on self-diagnostic findings and/or driveability symptoms.
After a failure area has been identified, the Quick Test determines the appropriate Pinpoint Test needed to pinpoint & repair the exact fault.
After the Pinpoint Test procedure is performed, the Quick Test is repeated to verify the repair was success and that no other problems exist.
NOTE:
There can be several breaks in the step numbering sequence of a Pinpoint Test. The breaks are due to previous chart references to these testing procedures. No test procedures have been omitted.
If a vehicle passes all Quick Test procedures, and there are no driveability symptoms or intermittent faults, the EEC-IV system is okay.
