Power Steering Pressure Switch (PSPS)

  1. Disconnect PSPS connector at steering gear box. Set DVOM to 200-ohm scale. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure resistance across PSPS terminals. Ohmmeter should indicate less than 10 ohms resistance.
  2. Start engine. Turn steering wheel at least one-half turn and return to center position, while observing DVOM. Resistance should change from 10 ohms or less to infinity (indicating PSPS opening), and then return to 10 ohms or less when steering wheel is returned to center position. If resistance is not within specification, replace PSPS.
