Using Analog Volt/Ohmmeter

1)  Ground STI connector. Connect DVOM positive lead to SML terminal the self-test connector and negative lead to ground. See Figure .

2)  Note output of the analog volt/ohmmeter as each switch is actuated. Record all tests results and proceed to SWITCH MONITOR TEST  .

NOTE: DO NOT depress throttle, clutch or engage transmission, unless directed.
SWITCH MONITOR TEST (1)

Switch DVOM Indication
Clutch Engage or Neutral Gear Switch 12 when in gear & clutch pedal released
Manual Lever Position Switch 12 in "P" & "N"
Idle Switch 12 volts with accelerator depressed
Brake On/Off Switch 12 volts with brake pedal depressed
Headlight Switch 12 volts with headlight switch on
Blower Motor Switch 12 volts with blower switch at 2nd position
A/C Switch 12 volts with A/C & switch blower on
Defrost Switch 12 volts with defrost switch on
Coolant Temperature Switch 12 volts with cooling fan on
Wide Open Throttle Switch 12 volts with cooling fan on
(1) If SUPER STAR II tester is used, correct switch performance will be indicated by LED illumination.
NOTE: If there is trouble in more than 2 places, the fault indication will be for the lowest code number first. Even if the problem is corrected during indication, 1 cycle will be indicated. The ECA has a built-in, fail-safe mechanism. If a malfunction occurs during driving, the ECA will operate on fixed values. Driving performance, however, will be affected.
