Quick Test: Description
The QUICK TEST diagnostic procedure is a functional test of the EEC system. It consists of 4 basic test steps:
- VISUAL CHECK & VEHICLE PREPARATION
- EQUIPMENT HOOK-UP
- KEY ON ENGINE OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST
- KEY ON ENGINE RUNNING (KOER) SELF-TEST
These basic steps must be carefully followed in sequence, otherwise misdiagnosis, or replacement of non-faulty components may result. The QUICK TEST procedures should be used only when you are directed here by the DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE charts. Anytime a repair is made.
- The negative (-) battery cable should be disconnected.
- The brake pedal should be depressed for 5-10 seconds.
- The Self-Test sequence should be repeated to ensure the repair was effective and no codes are present.
NOTE:
Correct test results depend on the correct operation of non-EEC components and systems. All non-EEC problems in the engine, ignition or fuel system should be corrected before attempting to diagnose the EEC system.
