Ignition Module Location

All 1.8L engines use 3-pin transistorized ignition module to relay spark control signals from ECA to ignition coil. The coil is mounted on coil bracket.

All 2.2L non-turbo engines use a distributor-mounted ignition module with vacuum advance which operates independent of ECA. The coil is mounted inside the distributor.

All 2.2L turbo engines use a 5-pin transistorized ignition module which controls spark by grounding negative side of coil, and returns a feedback signal to ECA. The coil is mounted on coil bracket.
