Switch Monitor Test

Perform this test if no code is present after performing KOEO and KOER self-tests. Switch monitor tests determine if electrical signals to the ECA from input devices are correct. In this procedure, each device is tested individually. Perform test with SUPER STAR II tester or Analog Volt-Ohmmeter (VOM).

SWITCH MONITOR TEST SPECIFICATIONS

Switch SUPER STAR II/VOM Indication (1) Circuit Test
Clutch Engage/Neutral Gear Switch (2) LED on/1.5 Volts; transaxle in gear, clutch pedal released STG
Manual Lever Position Switch LED on/1.5 Volts; transaxle in Park or Neutral STP
Idle Switch LED on/1.5 Volts; accelerator pedal depressed STG
Brake On/Off Switch LED on/1.5 Volts; brake pedal partially depressed STP
Headlight Switch LED on/1.5 Volts; headlight switch on STP
Blower Motor Switch LED on/1.5 Volts; switch set at 2 or more STG
A/C Switch LED on/1.5 Volts; A/C & blower switch on STG
Defrost Switch LED on/1.5 Volts; defrost switch on STP
Coolant Temp. Switch LED on/1.5 Volts; cooling fan on STP
Wide Open Throttle Switch LED on/1.5 Volts; accelerator pedal fully depressed STG
Knock Control LED on/1.5 Volts; while tapping on engine KC
(1) Proceed to CIRCUIT TEST indicated if Super Star II/VOM indication is incorrect. See CIRCUIT TESTS  .
(2) Not applicable to A/T vehicles.
